Are Plastic Magnetic Stripe Cards Required?
Although using magnetic swipe cards are the preferred method, you can use any type of uniquely identifiable media such as business cards printed using popular label making software or even the customer's phone number or other identifying information that is reasonably unique.  Another solution is to use stock gift cards with unique ID numbers.  Although using magnetic stripe cards provide convenience by simply swiping the card, manually keying in a customer's identifying information is simple enough to do and provides an alternative to businesses on a tight budget.  On the other hand, plastic magnetic swipe cards offer a more professional image to your customers and better security for both you and your customers.

If you choose to use plastic magnetic stripe cards, you can either purchase them through one of our partners or through a source of your own.  If you choose to use cards supplied by a 3rd party vendor, please be sure to ask us for the encoding specification to give to your vendor.

• Integrated Point of Sale System - Affinity Data Services offers an easy integration API to 3rd party POS developers.  Check with your POS dealer to see if your POS system is integrated with Affinity.
• Affinity Popup Software - Affinity Popup Software is a Free stand alone Windows Application that allows you to issue cards, add reward points and validate purchases from a customer's account using any Windows 2000/XP based PC.  You can even run Affinity Popup Software alongside your current Windows based POS application.  Affinity Popup Software will display over top of any running applications using a simple keyboard combination such as CTRL-M.

Requests are received from the POS (Using either an integrated Point of Sale system or the Affinity Popup Software) to process a request against a customer card account.  An example of a request would be to make a purchase using available cash on the customer's account.  Another example would be to award the customer points based on the customer's purchase, visit or some other behavior**.
